Pir᭩de format - ring size 52, length 156 mm - hand made - light to medium strength. Herman Upmann was a German banker who decided to open a branch of his family-owned bank in La Habana, Cuba. The year was 1844, a time of great activity in the Cuban tobacco trade and a period in which some of the now-classic Habanos cigar brands were first being created. Se񯲠Upmann was what would be called today "un aficionado de puros". Given the time and place it was only natural that a foreign banker with a love of fine cigars should follow the opening of a Cuban bank with a Cuban cigar factory. This he did and whilst today the bank has long gone the H.Upmann cigars that he created over 150 years ago are very much with us. H.Upmann cigars are known for both their excellent construction and their mild, smooth and subtle flavours. They have become a daytime favourite of many a seasoned connoisseur. On Febuary 8th, 1963 the US Government imposed an embargo upon Cuban goods under the "Trading with the Enemy Act." On the night of Febuary 7th, only hours before the embargo was due to take effect, President John F.
